Sustain Surveying provides independent professional advice on sustainability across land, property and the built environment. We help clients identify, understand and respond to sustainability issues relevant to their property, project, organisation or decision-making.

Our approach draws together professional surveying expertise, RICS standards and guidance, current research and policy to provide focused ana lysis and advice appropriate to individual client requirements.

We work with property owners, organisations, communities and built-environment professionals seeking to understand and respond to sustainability issues affecting land, property and development.

Areas of advice may include sustainability strategy, environmental and natural-capital considerations, climate and resilience, sustainable property and development, sustainability in valuation and investment, and the interpretation of relevant RICS standards and guidance.

RICS and Sustainability

Sustainability is increasingly embedded across RICS professional practice. In 2026, RICS published Sustainability practice for surveyors, describing sustainability as “central to modern surveying practice” and providing a framework for its application across surveying disciplines. The guidance emphasises the role of surveyors in understanding sustainability and incorporating environmental, social and economic considerations into professional practice.

RICS is also piloting a new Sustainability Advisory (MRICS) pathway, reflecting the growing role of strategic sustainability advice across the built and natural environment. The pathway encompasses areas including sustainability principles, climate risk and resilience, sustainable finance and investment, social value, circularity and low-carbon technologies, with sustainability professionals working at project, portfolio and policy levels.
